Compensation for fluctuations of plastic viscosity

Enabled by advanced process control with iQ weight control (plus)

The software optimizes the injection volume during the injection molding process. This regulates fluctuations in plastic material viscosity and responds to external influencing factors. iQ weight control compares the injection pressure curve of each cycle with a previously defined reference curve. Alternatively, iQ weight control plus regulates the injection process via the flow time. In both cases, the accuracy of the injection molding process is improved, and the weight of the components remains constant.

Advantages of optimized plastic viscosity in production

85% less weight deviations thanks to controlled injection volume

The intelligent assistance program, iQ weight control (plus), adjusts each injection process during production. It corrects the injection volume depending on the plastic viscosity. Fluctuations are compensated for in each shot. This reduces deviations of the molded part weight by up to 85%. Your benefit is better process stability, increased part quality and process repeatability.

Wide range of applications for recyclates and bioplastics

Image shows recyclates

Fluctuations in the viscosity of plastics are a major challenge when processing recyclates and bioplastics. iQ weight control (plus) detects these fluctuations in the raw material and adapts the injection process to the current production conditions. Recyclates and bioplastics from different sources can be processed - with a significantly minimized reject rate and increased productivity.

Visualizations on controller enable a fast correction of process parameters

Picture shows machine operator at the controller

The simple visualization when monitoring process-critical parameters immediately shows where adjustments are necessary in the injection molding process. Automatic parameter calculations enable the iQ weight control software to compare the pressure curve of each shot with a defined reference curve. In addition, iQ weight control plus regulates the injection process using flow time. This allows the system to quickly and efficiently detect differences and automatically correct deviations in plastic viscosity.

Single setup of the injection process with iQ weight control plus

Only two parameters instead of more than 40: injection processes can now be controlled intuitively. With new molds or limited experience, adjusting the injection process is often complex. iQ weight control plus significantly reduces this hurdle. With just two parameters – pressure and time – the process can be set quickly and reliably. This saves time, lowers training costs, and ensures stable processes, even without extensive expert knowledge.

Safe production even with cavity failures thanks to pressure-controlled injection

Image shows the application of pressure-controlled injection with iQ weight control plus

Pressure-controlled injection prevents rejects when mold issues occur. If one or more cavities in the mold are inactive, a volume-based switchover can cause overshooting and part rejects. iQ weight control plus regulates the process based on pressure instead: the machine immediately detects changes in filling behavior – such as when a hot runner zone shuts off - and automatically adjusts the process. This ensures stable quality, even with partially filled molds.
