We walk the path to a green future with you. We have been developing solutions for sustainable plastics processing for over 15 years - sustainability is a fundamental pillar of entrepreneurial activity for ENGEL. Cost-effectiveness, ethical conduct, social responsibility, and environmental protection are anchored in our values.
"Green is more than a color"
Together with our customers, we develop injection molding solutions for resource-preserving and energy-efficient plastic processing. With "be the first" we express that as a family-owned company, we are a stable employer for our employees. We create a work environment that allows our team members to enjoy their work while bringing their full potential to fruition in pursuit of the company’s goals.
"We are aware of our responsibility. A world with sustainable plastics is not only possible but necessary."
ENGEL Sustainability Goals
Verified by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)
In 2023, ENGEL committed to the SBTi – a non-profit climate protection initiative that supports companies in setting science-based climate targets. With our ENGEL sustainability goals, we are aligning ourselves with the Paris Climate Agreement and contributing to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5 °C.
ENGEL will halve its greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and 2) generated at ENGEL sites by 2030 and reduce them by an additional 90% by 2050 to achieve net zero. (Base year 2022)
ENGEL will reduce greenhouse gas emissions caused in the upstream and downstream supply chain (Scope 3) by 42% by 2030 and by 90% by 2050 to achieve net zero. (Base year 2022)
Sustainability Report
ENGEL Sustainability Report
The sustainability report summarizes all efforts in an overall strategy. It underlines the importance of the topic in the plastics industry.
The sustainability goal is further supported by close cooperation between companies along the value chain. Market players network on platforms to exchange information and data: from raw material production and processing to recycling and even further towards retail and the consumer.
50 Sustainability & Climate Leaders
Sustainability is firmly anchored in our corporate philosophy. By including ENGEL in the group of 50 Climate Leaders, Bloomberg is honoring this commitment and giving the industrial commitment to climate and environmental protection greater public attention.
JKU LIT Factory
The LIT Factory of the Linz Institute of Technology (LIT) at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz is a networked teaching, learning and research factory for smart polymer processing and digitalization. ENGEL is a long-standing partner and sponsor of the institute and conducts research with its own test facilities on site.
R-Cycle
With digital product passports, R-Cycle creates the basis for a high-quality recycling process by automatically recording recycling-relevant information as early as the product manufacturing stage. A prerequisite for closing material cycles is information transparency along the entire value chain.
Plattform Verpackung mit Zukunft
All players along the value chain in Austria need to join forces to close the loop. To ensure that packaging does not end up in the environment but is returned to the product cycle, new effective alliances must be formed. This is why ENGEL, as a Packaging with Verpackung mit Zukunft, is working for the first time with new partners along the value chain from its location in Austria.
New Plastics Economy
In mid-March 2019, ENGEL became one of the first companies in the plastics machinery industry to sign the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's global commitment to the New Plastics Economy. Together with more than 350 companies, universities and organizations, this cooperation is committed to the circular economy and sustainability worldwide.
EcoVadis
With the EcoVadis platinum award, ENGEL is among the top 1% of the world's most sustainable companies. EcoVadis is the world's largest provider of sustainability rankings and evaluates the environmental, social and ethical sustainability ambitions of companies.
United Nations Global Compact
The United Nations Global Compact is the world's largest and most important initiative for responsible corporate conduct. The vision of the UN Global Compact is an inclusive and sustainable global economy based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which ENGEL fully supports.

Environmental Social Governance
Our vision is a sustainable and, at the same time, profitable plastics industry. End consumers worldwide should be able to trust that they are using clean plastic products in their everyday lives. Products that are manufactured in a resource-preserving way and whose supply or value chains are ethically correct. This is how we ensure prosperity, especially for our successor generations.
