We walk the path to a greener future with you. We have been developing solutions for sustainable plastics processing for over 15 years. Sustainability is a fundamental pillar of entrepreneurial activity for ENGEL. Profitability, ethical action, social responsibility and the protection of the environment are anchored in our values.
"Green is more than a colour"
Together with our customers, we develop injection moulding solutions for resource-saving and energy-efficient plastics processing. With "be the first" we express that as a family business we are a stable employer for our employees. We create a working environment in which they can develop and apply themselves with enjoyment in the spirit of the company.
"We are aware of our responsibility. A world with sustainable plastics is not only possible, but necessary."
Sustainability Report
ENGEL Sustainability Report
The sustainability report summarises all efforts in a holistic strategy and underlines the importance of the topic in the plastics industry.
The sustainability goal is further supported by the close cooperation of companies along the value chain. Market participants network on horizontal platforms to exchange information and data: from raw material production to processing to recycling and even further towards trade and consumers.
50 Sustainability & Climate Leaders
Sustainability is firmly anchored in our corporate philosophy. By including ENGEL in the group of 50 Climate Leaders, Bloomberg is honouring this commitment and giving the industrial commitment to climate and environmental protection a higher profile in the public eye.
JKU LIT Factory
The LIT Factory of the Linz Institute of Technology (LIT) at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz is a networked teaching, learning and research factory for smart polymer processing and digitalisation. ENGEL is a long-standing partner and sponsor of the institute and conducts research with its own test facilities on site.
R-Cycle
With digital product passports, R-Cycle creates the basis for a high-quality recycling process by automatically recording recycling-relevant information as early as the product manufacturing stage. The prerequisite for closing material cycles is information transparency along the entire value chain.
Plattform Verpackung mit Zukunft
In order to close the loop, all actors along the value chain in Austria need to join forces. In order to ensure that packaging does not end up in the environment, but is returned to the product cycle, new effective alliances must be formed. This is why ENGEL, as a member of the Plattform Verpackung mit Zukunft, is working for the first time with new partners along the value chain from its location in Austria.
New Plastics Economy
In mid-March 2019, ENGEL became one of the first plastics machinery companies to sign the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's global commitment to the New Plastics Economy. Together with more than 350 companies, universities and organisations, this cooperation is committed to the topic of circular economy and sustainability worldwide.
Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)
In 2023, ENGEL joined the Science Based Targets Initiative - a non-profit climate protection organisation that supports companies and financial institutions worldwide in setting science-based climate protection targets. With our ENGEL sustainability targets and our SBTi commitment, we are committed to the global climate protection goal of significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions in order to limit the temperature increase to a maximum of 1.5°C.
EcoVadis
With the EcoVadis platinum award, ENGEL is among the top 1% of the world's most sustainable companies. EcoVadis is the world's largest provider of sustainability rankings and assesses the environmental, social and ethical sustainability ambitions of companies.
United Nations Global Compact
The United Nations Global Compact is the world's largest and most important initiative for responsible corporate governance. The vision of the UN Global Compact is an inclusive and sustainable global economy based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which ENGEL fully supports.

Environmental Social Governance
Our vision is an absolutely sustainable and at the same time profitable plastics industry. End consumers worldwide should be able to trust that they are using clean plastic products in their everyday lives that are manufactured in a resource-conserving manner and whose supply or value chains are ethically sound. This is how we ensure prosperity, especially for our successor generations.
