The mold size, and not the maximum clamping force, is often the key to optimal machine design. A precise calculation of the required clamping force is worthwhile, as tie-bar-less technology enables production with machines that are one to two clamping force sizes smaller. It is the optimal solution, especially for bulky molds, molds with multiple cavities, non-full-surface molded parts and multi-color applications.

Low friction, clamping pressure lock-in and electro-hydraulic control pumps ensure low energy consumption. The optional ENGEL ecodrive drive system raises energy efficiency to the level of fully electronic machines.

Barrier-free access ensures pleasant working conditions and a clear view from every angle. This also creates ideal conditions for automation: Faster parts removal, smaller plant footprints and low hall heights are the result. Pulling tie-bars and time-consuming assembly work when changing tools are also a thing of the past - the short set-up times increase productivity.

Thanks to the wide open access to the mold area, even large molds or bulky core pulls can be accommodated. The generously dimensioned clamping platens can be used up to the edges, and even beyond. You also benefit from minimal mold wear: the patented ENGEL Flex-Link system guarantees unsurpassed platen parallelism for many years.

Optimal support of the mold weight

A special design feature of the tie-bar-less ENGEL injection molding machines is their solid frame. The clamping unit is ideally supported and does not bend even with very heavy molds. Thanks to additionally available guide shoes for the moving platen, the mold weight can be significantly increased.

Each tie-bar-less clamping unit is precisely set up before delivery using the highly sensitive platen parallelism adjustment. Thanks to the pre-tensioning of the patented force dividers, the platen parallelism remains unchanged even when the mold is clamped.

No turning, no tilting

Thanks to the three-point guide - two precision guide rails and the central guide of the clamping piston - the moving platen retains its alignment even during mold opening and closing.

Built differently - well thought out

In contrast to other designs, the stationery platen is not connected to the frame at the bottom, but at the rear. In this way, it absorbs the machine's vibrations symmetrically and remains parallel to the moving platen even when accelerating and decelerating.

The central Flex-Links enable the platen parallelism to be adapted precisely to the mold parallelism. The moving platen is lifted out of the guide shoes. With a perfectly clamped mold, this results in constant compression, any lateral forces are avoided, and the service life of the mold is increased.

Uniform clamping force distribution

Regardless of whether the cavities are in the middle or at the very edge of the platen - they all experience exactly the same clamping force. This is ensured by the patented Force Divider, which distributes the clamping force evenly over the entire clamping surface. This guarantees consistent high part quality, even with multi-cavity molds.
