Networking your machines via an appropriate device is a prerequisite for the operation of e-connect.24. The product-specific data will only flow once connectivity has been established. For the machine connection, it is advisable to involve your IT department or a person in your company who has IT knowledge to support you with the IP configuration. If you do not have IT, you are welcome to contact us and we will support you.

The following steps must be taken to establish connectivity:

Networking with an ENGEL EDGE Device is necessary to meet the requirements of the e-connect.24 product.

• The EDGE Device stands for secure and networked data acquisition and analysis directly at the machine and is currently used exclusively for ENGEL machines.

  • To start-up the EDGE Device, follow the descriptions in the Quickstart EDGE Device.

  • For more technical details on the start-up process of the EDGE Device, please refer to the EDGE Device system specification.

Note: If you are still using the "Service Box" model, please use the Quickstart Service Box.

2. Configuration of IP addresses on the machine

Note: Please note that it may take a few working days for all bills of material for your equipment to be fully available in the system when using it for the first time. In this case, you will receive the message "This resource has not been released for you."

Licence allocation

Assigning the purchased licence(s) to an equipment in your machine park is a prerequisite for using process insights.
This is currently a manual process carried out directly at ENGEL. Please contact our ENGEL Digital Solution Support by email (e-connect@engel.at) and let them know which equipment from your machine park you would like to use process insights with.

Start "process insights" in the customer portal under the menu item "Production".

ENGEL has 2 devices in its portfolio to meet the requirements of the product and our customers.

• The Advantech IoT Device supports the transmission of information via digital signals and is primarily used for connecting third-party machines.

  • To start-up the Advantech IoT Device, follow the descriptions in chapter 1 of the start-up manual.

  • Once this has been completed, please proceed with the configuration of the Advantech IoT Device. The description can be found in chapter 2 "Configuration" in the start-up manual.

Start "sim link" in the customer portal under the menu item "Design".

If you do not see the menu item, please contact e-connect@engel.at to obtain the appropriate role as a simulation engineer.

Please also contact our support team at e-connect@engel.at if your user account does not have an active sim link package or flat rate. In this case, the following message will appear in the sim link area of the portal: ‘No package available. Please order a new package.‘

Download the latest sim link interface directly from the e-connect portal. If you are using Moldex3D Studio, please make sure that the ‘machine response’ add-on is activated in Moldex3D Studio.
