Production control system authentig: How SEZ DK redefines production efficiency

The manufacturing world is under increasing pressure – flexible processes, maximum transparency and high production efficiency are all required. The Slovak manufacturer SEZ DK has found a perfect solution to this: With the introduction of the production control system authentig by ENGEL, the company has taken a decisive step towards a smart factory. The goal: better overview of the machine park, data driven decisions and a sustainable increase in production efficiency.

SEZ DK has over 70 years of experience in the manufacture of high-quality electrical installation products. Technological change in long established manufacturing environments can become a real trial for machines, processes and employees. A machine park with partially older equipment, growing competitive pressure and the increasing demands on production efficiency posed a strategic challenge for SEZ DK: The existing infrastructure had to be digitised and modernised – without endangering ongoing production.

With the MES authentig, the modern production control system from ENGEL, SEZ DK was able to master the step into digitalisation. authentig seamlessly networks machines – including older generations – and provides real-time usable data from production. The local support from ENGEL partner MASTEX and the simple implementation via IoT device made the introduction straightforward and practical. Employees were specifically trained to fully utilise the potential of the system.

Shortly after the introduction, the benefits rapidly became apparent: Production data is available at any time, downtime can be quickly identified and rectified using the software for machine data acquisition. The analysis functions of the production control system enable more precise planning and strategic decisions.

“We were able to identify and specifically eliminate bottlenecks – this significantly increased the efficiency of our equipment”, explains Stanislav Hutira, Plastics Plant Manager at SEZ DK.

At the same time, employees also benefit: they can better understand and actively influence their own performance, which has noticeably increased motivation within the team.

SEZ DK plans to further expand the use of authentig. Additional production lines are to be integrated and advanced analysis functions implemented – with the aim of increasing OEE by a further 10%. SEZ DK thus pursues the clear goal of not only producing more efficiently, but also specifically aligning its own manufacturing for future requirements of plastics technology.
