ENGEL establishes new manufacturing site in Serbia
IM manufacturer expands global production network
ENGEL, one of the world's leading manufacturers of injection moulding machines, is expanding its global production network. With the establishment of a manufacturing site in Kikinda, Serbia, the family-owned company strengthens its competitiveness and secures a high-performing value chain in Europe for the long term. Customers in European and American markets in particular will benefit from shorter lead times and greater supply reliability.
The new site in Serbia is part of a targeted evolution of ENGEL's European manufacturing architecture. The focus is on relocating mechanical manufacturing operations to make better use of international location advantages and establish a resilient European supply chain. In the first phase, a 13,000 m² facility in Kikinda will be dedicated to produce machined components. Around 150 employees are planned to be recruited over the first three years. As a result, ENGEL's Austrian plants will gain capacity to focus on more demanding, customer-specific system solutions.
"The new Kikinda site complements our existing plants across Europe," says Stefan Engleder, CEO of the ENGEL Group. "It improves our cost efficiency and gives us greater flexibility compared to sourcing directly from Asia. Our Austrian plants will have more room to focus on what we do best: highly complex, tailored system solutions that are in demand worldwide."
Decades of globalisation expertise
Kikinda stands out for its well-qualified workforce and an industrial infrastructure that has grown over decades – both of which enable seamless integration into ENGEL's existing European production network. Peter Jungwirth will assume the role of Managing Director of ENGEL Serbia in addition to his current position as Commercial Director of the Kaplice (Czech Republic) site. Experienced ENGEL staff from Austria will train the local team, ensuring knowledge transfer in line with the company's global quality standards. For customers with a market presence in Europe and the Americas, the expanded production network means a more resilient supply base – less exposed to long transit times and international supply chain disruptions.
