Experience. Innovation. Passion – That was the motto of the ENGEL Symposium 2015, which more than 3,000 plastics manufacturers from all over the world travelled to Austria for in the middle of June.
For three days, everything at ENGEL in St. Valentin and in the Design Center in Linz revolved around the current and future challenges of the injection moulding industry. The ENGEL large-scale machine manufacturing plant was practically transformed into an injection moulding production facility for the event. Sophisticated components for the automotive, technical moulding, teletronics, packaging and medical industries were produced at new levels of product quality and with unprecedented efficiency in a number of highly integrated and automated production cells.
At its triennial in-house exhibition, ENGEL traditionally takes the opportunity to present product, technology and application innovations for the injection moulding industry to the world for the first time. Among other things, this year's highlights included the injection moulding of metal alloys using Liquidmetal technology, the new ENGEL flexseal O-ring machine, the ENGEL e-speed with a larger injection unit and the recently extended ENGEL easix robot series.
With more than 40 exhibitors, the partner exhibition at the ENGEL production plant in St. Valenin has been greater than ever and was another attraction for the numerous visitors.
Another established fixed point at the ENGEL Symposium was again the accompanying conference with top-class lectures and speakers. Industry 4.0 has been only one out of many interesting topics that have been discussed in the context of the current market and industry challenges.
Keynote speaker and "Pop Star of the Design World" Karim Rashid impressed his listeners with his unusual, yet suitable for everyday life designs. He inspired the guests of the ENGEL Symposium with his new approaches to design and functionality.
As a highlight at the traditional gala dinner on the first evening, ENGEL awarded the winners of the eighth ENGEL HL awards. For the first time, the prizes were awarded in three categories. Details to the winners (including videos) can be found on our HL award page.
