The FIFO injection unit
The FIFO injection units of the ENGEL elast series have been
specially developed for the processing of elastomers. The
first material to be plasticized is also the first material to be
injected into the mould, which means that the thermal state
of the entire shot volume is always identical. Injection is direct,
without deflection or diversion. The very short injection nozzle ensures that the preselected injection pressure is virtually
fully available for the mould filling operation.
A further advantage of the short injection nozzle is that the
melt temperature can be so selected that vulcanization is initiated
immediately after the mould filling operation. Not only does this permit the shortest possible heating times but it also creates decisive advantages as regards flash control. The melt temperatures can be maintained at a constantly high level.
The screw-type injection unit
This is an injection unit that is mainly used for smaller shot volumes (up to max. approx. 200 cm3). The advantage compared to a FIFO unit is the faster plasticising time combined with extremely precise reproducibility.
