Now Georg Schwarz is celebrating his 80th birthday. Together with his staff, he looks back at this time on an eventful life under the auspices of injection moulding machine manufacturing.

Born in 1928 in Essegg (Croatia) Georg Schwarz came to Austria in 1945. After marrying Irene Engel he joins the family business in 1951. Soon after, he starts to set up a global sales network in his role as Head of Sales and General Manager as of 1965, thus laying down the foundations for ENGEL’s success today. Untiring in his drive, Georg Schwarz pushes the business towards internationalisation, setting up production facilities in Austria, Canada, the USA, Korea, China, and the Czech Republic. Staff figures have grown almost ten-fold in this time. ENGEL is now the global leader in injection moulding machine manufacturing and has a 24 percent market share in Europe and America.
1978 Mr. Schwarz became Citizen of Honour of Leoben University and in 1992 Honorary Senator of the Vienna University of Technology. Mr. Schwarz was awarded the Grand Decoration of Honour in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria in 1988, the Decoration of Honour in Gold of the State of Upper Austria in 1999, and the Decoration of Honour in Gold of the State of Lower Austria in 2006. Mr. Schwarz was a member of the board of the Federation of Austrian Industry for many years, and also represented the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
Georg Schwarz is celebrating his 80th birthday with his family and staff at this time. Enormous personal dedication and entrepreneurial foresight characterise his work. He promotes the construction of state-of-art factories and the use of economic production methods. Even today, Georg Schwarz is active within the business every day, and his experience is an enormous aid to the company group. His belief in the company’s employees is still regarded today as one of the group’s leading principles, and constitutes the basis for the long-term success of the family business.
