Schwertberg/Austria – October 2007. With the expansion of their works for large-scale machines in St. Valentin, the Austrian manufacturer of injection moulding machines ENGEL are continuing to invest in the central location of Austria.
In addition to constructing a new technology centre in Schwertberg until 2009, the company will invest several million euros in the next four years to increase the production capacities of the "duo" dual-platen machines.
Due to the increasing demand for large-scale ENGEL machines, the family enterprise have decided to significantly expand the works capacity with a total investment volume in the tens of million euros. The assembly area of the dual-platen machine series will be enlarged by 6,000 sqm, so that the total capacity in St. Valentin will be 68,000 sqm.
"With their works in St. Valentin, ENGEL have for years been on a strict course of growth; the investments will help us to fulfil the increasing demand for large-scale ENGEL machines", according to Joachim Metzmacher, division manager of the ENGEL works for large-scale machines in St. Valentin, York (USA) and Shanghai (China). The goal of the investment will be to increase the number of machines to be produced by approx. 30%. It is expected that additional synergies will result from the production network of the three works for large-scale machines so that the production efficiency can be increased even further. The enlargement of the production hall in St. Valentin will be completed by Summer 2009.
