ENGEL AUSTRIA GmbH has been manufacturing injection moulding machines for about 50 years. The company has since become one of the world's largest manufacturers in this sector. An important milestone has now been achieved with the delivery of the machine bearing the production No. 70,000. It was an ENGEL victory 4550/600 tech which was handed over to representatives of Rosti Technical Plastics UK Ltd. in St. Valentin recently.

Maximum power on a minimal footprint – this is what ENGEL duo machines have represented for years. And very successfully. A very special anniversary provided the perfect backdrop to underline this success story: the delivery of the 2000th ENGEL duo machine to the BMW Landshut plant. On the occasion of an official visit, the machine – an ENGEL duo 23050/4000 for manufacturing dashboards with an integrated safety net to cover the airbag – was officially handed over at the end of July.

Energy optimised, powerful machine designs are the focus of this year’s trade fair presentation: the highlight is the new ENGEL duo 500 pico – a compact variant of the tried-and-trusted ENGEL duo large scale machine series. Besides this ENGEL will be presenting three fully electric machines and the ENGEL e-victory hybrid machine.

With 150 million Euro, the three ENGEL Deutschland sites have booked their highest turnover of all ages. This actually means an increase of 70% over a period of five years. The market share is approx. 20 percent. In addition to the general market trend towards system suppliers, the three managing directors Ralf Christofori (Nürnberg), Rolf Saß (Hagen) and Christopher Vitz (Hannover) see the specific reasons for success in the increasing concentration on customer-specific and demanding solutions in application technology.

In order to strengthen the market performance of ENGEL in Turkey, ENGEL established a sales subsidiary in Istanbul on 1 May 2008, thus taking into account the tremendous potential of the Turkish market. In addition to its great market importance, Turkey plays a key role in the regional environment for neighbouring countries. The well-experienced Turkish commercial agency EN-KO Makine Servis has been integrated in the new enterprise.

ENGEL Austria received the Go International Award as part of the Austrian Export Day on 24th April 2008 in Vienna. With this award, the jury honours internationally active companies that set an example for other companies through their internationalisation strategy. The award was issued by the Außenwirtschaft Österreich (AWO) and presented to the ENGEL representatives by the Minister for Economic Affairs Dr. Martin Bartenstein and the president of the Economic Chamber Dr. Christoph Leitl.

Plastics processors GRAF from Teningen recently commissioned a two platen ENGEL machine with a clamping force of 55,000 kN and three injection units for the production of underground tanks and logistics containers. ENGEL has broken all previous records with this development. The duo 5500 not only supports shot weights of up to 140 kg with its three injection units, but is also very economical with its extremely low energy consumption.

Maximum precision and economy in a compact package. This is the new, fully-electric ENGEL e-max injection moulding machine. And this machine is touring through Europe from 15th April to 3rd July 2008. At 11 locations, visitors can look forward to a multi-faceted programme under the banner of “europe-max 2008”.
