Medtec 2012: Process integration reduces cost per unit

Hubertus Schulte: the new CTO of ENGEL

With effect from 1st January, Dr. Hubertus Schulte (50) took over the responsibility for technology and production within the management team of ENGEL AUSTRIA. Hubertus Schulte brings more than 20 years of international experience in plastics processing machines to the role. In his previous post, he was the CEO for a leading German supplier of extrusion systems; a role in which he was responsible for both engineering and global sales and distribution.

Dolphin: First series production has started

More comfort, that is the trend regarding the design of vehicle interiors, including trucks. Moulded parts with softtouch-surfaces, which can be produced in just a single process step applying the Dolphin-method, make an essential contribution to promote this trend. The first series application has started in autumn. Daimler supplier SOLE produces cockpit covers for the new Mercedes-Benz Actros by using Dolphin.

MuCell: New control system promises greater clarity

The development was unveiled to more than 100 users and other parties interested in the process of foam injection moulding at an international workshop. Volkswagen is the 1000th ENGEL ecodrive customer

The demand for energy saving options is unabated: after all, saving energy means reducing unit costs. ENGEL identified this trend at an early stage and paved the way for hydraulic machines to a sustainable future with the servohydraulic ENGEL ecodrive. At Fakuma, the injection moulding machine manufacturer celebrated the delivery of its 1000th machine with ecodrive. Volkswagen in Braunschweig, Germany, will be using this machine to produce dashboards for the Golf, Golf Plus and Tiguan models.

New ENGEL victory 500 for more efficiency

Atek uses moulds with dimensions up to 1100 x 1100 mm on an ENGEL victory 3550/500 tech injection moulding machine with a clamping force of 500 tonnes. Thanks to the tie-bar-less technology, the automotive supplier can deploy a far smaller machine than legacy approaches would need for a mould of this size, and this means cost savings. Atek is the first adopter of the new ENGEL victory 500 machine which further improves manufacturing efficiency with its innovative features.

Higher throughput with ease
