EXJECTION® Technology Wins Austrian State Prize
EXJECTION® technology supports the production of long sections and rails with integrated fitting, closure, reinforcing and decor elements via a single injection point in a single production cycle. We chose a fully electrical ENGEL e-motion injection moulding machine for this process as it guarantees the required level of process integration. IB STEINER has now been awarded the 2009 State Prize for consulting / engineering consulting for the development of the EXJECTION® process.

Mitsubishi cooperates with ENGEL
ENGEL and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Plastic Technology Co., Ldt. (MHI-PT) have made a cooperation agreement concerning the marketing of large-scale ENGEL multi-component injection moulding machines for Japanese customers. The purpose is to distribute ENGEL duo combi-machines with clamping forces 1.000 tons and lower in Japan jointly under the brand name “Mitsubishi-ENGEL”.

New CEO for ENGEL North America
Beginning in April 2010 Mark Sankovitch (53) will be appointed CEO of ENGEL North America. He follows Steve Braig, who will leave the company until the end of March 2010. Mark Sankovitch has a 20-year experience with ENGEL and recently he was Regional Sales Manager in Chicago.

ENGEL for the fourth time in a row Prime Machinery Supplier of the Year
At the “British Plastics Industry Awards” the British subsidiary of ENGEL won the title “Prime Machine Supplier of the Year” for the fourth time in a row. The coveted prize was presented to Branch Manager Graeme Herlihy at a special ceremony at the London Hilton Park Hotel on 2 October.

Driving you eco – Focus on energy efficiency
This year's FAKUMA trade fair, from 13 to 17 October in Friedrichshafen, once again proved that energy efficiency is a buzz topic more than ever before. In keeping with the theme of "Driving you eco", ENGEL exhibited its latest state-of-art energy-saving and performance concepts. And was highly successful in doing so. The highlights included the presentation of the new ENGEL viper robot series, the new ENGEL victory 160 series with ecodrive and the "small" ENGEL duo pico large-scale machine series – also featuring ecodrive.

ENGEL bolsters market presence with new office in former Yugoslavia
ENGEL is reinforcing its market presence in Serbia and Croatia with a new dealership. In addition to the sales network that already exists in Eastern Europe, ENGEL has now entered into a cooperation with Serbia's Neofyton to redefine its market presence in the states of former Yugoslavia. ENGEL is the undisputed market leader in Eastern Europe with a market share of nearly 40%.

Georg Schwarz in the Plastics Hall of Fame
Georg Schwarz – the owner of ENGEL AUSTRIA GmbH received a very special accolade on 22nd June 2009. On the occasion of the NPE in Chicago, his name was added to the "Plastics Hall of Fame". The implementation of visionary ideas and internationalisation of ENGEL Austria GmbH characterised Georg Schwarz’s career. In recognition of his service to the company and the plastics industry as a whole, he has now received the highest award the plastics industry can give.

More than 2,000 visitors at ENGEL Symposium
The amazing success of the ENGEL Symposium 09, 27th and 28th May in St. Valentin just goes to show that innovation is an important topic even in difficult times. Some 2,000 guests from 45 countries followed the invitation by the Austrian injection moulding machine manufacturer and enjoyed fascinating keynotes, highly innovative exhibits and interesting talks. This is a new record for ENGEL – it has never welcomed so many visitors to a symposium before. And this despite the very tense market situation.

2009 ENGEL HL Award
The ENGEL HL Awards 2009 were presented on 27th May against the backdrop of the ENGEL Symposium 09. As the highlight of the ENGEL evening at the Linz Design Center, the awards were presented to companies that use ENGEL injection moulding machines with tie-bar-less clamping units and that apply the concept in an especially innovative and economic manner. Gold, silver and bronze went – in this order – to Braun GmbH in Walldurn/Germany, to Oechsler AG in Ansbach/Germany and to Härter-Mecutec GmbH & Co KG in Albstadt/Germany.

ENGEL onyx - New wear protection system for screws
Plastics with modified characteristics play an increasingly important role in the industry. Mineral additives or glass fibres in particular are very demanding on the wear resilience of the plasticising components. ENGEL now offers carbide coating for screws under the "ENGEL onyx" product name. This improved both the coating toughness and the bonding force by 300 percent. At the same time, further improvements of abrasion resilience were achieved. "Onyx screws" are available in the 25 to 70 mm diameter range.
