ENGEL North America scores record FY revenues in improved manufacturing environment
Fiscal year 2012-2013 ended with record sales revenues for ENGEL in North America. From the depths of the recession in 2010 with sales of 59.5 million, ENGEL ended their fiscal year on March 31, 2013 with record sales of over 200 million US. The success is attributed to fulfilling clients’ emerging technology needs in injection molding and automation, and in meeting demanding delivery commitments at competitive prices.

Intelligent user interfaces of tomorrow
On its Sensitive Surface Days in February ENGEL once again demonstrated that it is a world's leader when it comes to intelligent electronic plastic products with high-quality surfaces. Plastic processors from Australia and Japan even travelled to Austria to spend two days learning about how innovative technologies could be used to operate plastic surfaces with electronic intelligence. The event was attended by more than 140 participants.

A new class of efficiency in lightweight construction
Continuous fiber-reinforced structural components play a major role in high-performance applications. Until now, the economic mass-production – using automated injection molding -- of a functionally designed lightweight component with stiffening ribs and mounting elements has failed because of the high viscosity of the polymers. The use of monomers as the base material, along with in situ polymerization in the mold, opens up new possibilities.

ENGEL at Plastec West: Introducing the new silicone vulcanization process
ENGEL North America will introduce their new UV vulcanization process for silicone molding at the upcoming Plastec West show, February 12th -14th, 2013 in Anaheim, CA. On display will be a 110 ton ENGEL e-motion all-electric machine with an integrated ENGEL viper 6 robot, equipped with UV vulcanization for LSR molding.

ENGEL hands 1500th machine over to the LEGO Group
ENGEL AUSTRIA handed over its 1500th injection molding machine to the LEGO Group at the beginning of December. LEGO elements in many shapes and colours are produced on ENGEL injection molding machines at the LEGO sites in Denmark, Hungary and Mexico. ENGEL and the LEGO Group have enjoyed a good working relationship for over 40 years now and have driven many new developments forward together over the course of this period.

6000 tons: extra-large machine with extra-large energy savings
With edge lengths of 3.5 metres and a weight of 95 tons each, the mold clamping platens of the ENGEL duo 80000H/80000H/5500 injection molding machine which Sulo Umwelttechnik uses to make four-wheel rubbish containers are the biggest and heaviest ENGEL has ever built. With ENGEL e-factory 2, ENGEL sets new standards in production data acquisition. Thanks to the enhanced set of features, the new release of ENGEL's MES solution can be connected directly to ERP systems such as SAP – even injection molding machines of different brands can now be integrated. Delivery times substantially cut
ENGEL's response to continuing increases in order volumes for automation technology is to introduce synchronised line assembly and modernise the machine farm in its robot plant. The injection molding machine manufacturer and automation expert has invested a total of 2.3 m euros in its facility in Dietach, Austria.

Following a record turnover in the 2011/2012 financial year, ENGEL has been able to continue this trend and again increase its turnover by a good ten percent in the first half of this financial year (by 30 September 2012). This growth is primarily down to an increasing demand for injection molding machines with medium and large clamping forces, and more and more businesses wanting to purchase system solutions which are both economically efficient and sustainable from one source. ENGEL also has reason to be optimistic for the second half of the year.

Molding, Monitoring and More. ENGEL at MD&M Minneapolis
ENGEL North America will exhibit a wide range of injection molding technology at the upcoming MD&M Minneapolis 2012 show in Minneapolis, MN. The exhibit starts with an ecodrive equipped, 55 ton ENGEL e-victory hybrid tie-bar-less machine molding an LSR application, and adds an ENGEL viper 6 robot. The system features the new ENGEL flomo -- an extremely compact temperature controlling water distribution system with electronic monitoring, and finishes with ENGEL e-factory 2 remote monitoring system.
