State of the art technology from Kaplice

The ENGEL competence centre in Kaplice is an integral part of the ENGEL plant family and is specialised in the production of electric control cabinets, machine bases, oil tanks and peripheral devices, especially conveyor belts. The ENGEL Group can strengthen its position as system supplier in the market with the products from Kaplice and meet a wide range of requirements.

Peripheral devices division
The conveyor belts made in Kaplice are an integral part of the systems offered ENGEL. They are constructed in a modular way, so that they can meet all requirements. Due to the proximity to the Austrian sites and the integration of the other ENGEL sites, the specific requirements of customers and the conveyor belt production can be combined perfectly. This means, fastest possible integration with the lowest possible costs for the customer.

The complete value chain has been set up close to production on site in the Kaplice ENGEL factory so that all customer orders in the conveying technology sector can be implemented directly. This means that all value chain steps are implemented in Kaplice – from order clarification and order production to assembly and delivery of the product. This construction capacity in the areas of mechanics, electrical and software not only enables the implementation of special solutions (e.g.: transfer systems, roller conveyors), but also the in-house and further development of new products in the sector of peripheral systems.

Sheet metal fabrication
In the Kaplice competence centre for sheet metal fabrication, machine bases, frames for control cabinet , oil tanksand safety gates are produced for the assembly plants within the ENGEL Group. A significant part of the sheet metal fabrication for the ENGEL injection moulding machines are produced by qualified workers (welders, metalworkers, CNC laser machine operators) with the aid of high-tech, state of the art sheet metal processing machine tools and systems. This division is expanding continuously and the skillset of all employees is being inreased constantly.

Electrical assembly division
The main production program in this division consists of the production of electric control cabinets, including cable production. Each year, over 3500 control cabinets for injection moulding machines are being produced to order in Kaplice and supplied to the assembly plants within the ENGEL Group as sub-assemblies.

Services division
The main tasks of this division include technical services in the areas of mechanical construction, electrical construction and CNC programming. This division is set up in Kaplice like an external design office in close coordination and based upon the requirements of the assembly plants within the ENGEL Group. The main focus is on active cooperation in the area of development and construction of new injection moulding machines, technical calculations (FEM) and the production of technical documentation in 3D-CAD (Ideas, Unigraphics).

Founded in 2001, the ENGEL plant Strojirenska spol s.r.o. has already shown a significant expansion. Having started with 12 employees, more than 300 persons are now working in Kaplice. The product portfolio has also been significantly increased over the past 6 years. ENGEL Kaplice has become an integral part of the plants within the global ENGEL production sites. The strong growth in the past years confirms the strong expansion drive of the youngest member of the ENGEL family.

New buildings are currently being built with approx. 17,000 square meters of production space and an office building. The goal is to increase the workforce to 400 by 2009 and to set up a sheet metal fabrication centre for the Austrian ENGEL plants.
